CURIOUS ABOUT FEEDING YOUR CAT A RAW DIET?
I've answered lots of questions about kibble, canned, how to improve your cat's diet and what raw feeding really means. Some questions you may not have even considered. Curious?
Shelter kitty adopted at 1.5 years old
We were living together in our very small apartment in Chicago when Rich (Cat Dad) convinced me that we needed a cat in our lives. Full story here. When we went to the shelter and a cute little black cat jumped up on Rich's lap, we knew he was our guy!
We've learned so much about Mikita's potential. He's learned how to sit and give a paw! His brain is full of learning potential and as cat parents, we are able to help him unlock it. We made a promise to Mikita that we'd never stop learning about cats and would keep an open mind when it came to enriching his life.
Mikita is named after #21 Stan Mikita, a former Chicago Blackhawks player and Hockey Hall of Famer.
Retired breeding Maine Coon adopted at 5 years old.
Dahlia is the second cat we adopted, 4 years after Mikita. We saw her posted on Instagram and immediately wanted to meet her. She seemed smart, wise, and playful. We thought she'd be a good match for Mikita since neither of them had Alpha personalities. Plus, they were the same age!
We originally considered adopting a kitten, but Dahlia spoke to us. We weren't sure if we'd have enough space in our tiny apartment. Our desire to give her an awesome retirement from breeding ended up being more important than space. Turns out having two cats isn't much more work than one. It's also really cute watching them play together.

HELPFUL TIPS, STORIES AND INFORMATION ABOUT...YOU GUESSED IT, CATS!
Hi, I'm Andrea
I'm married to Rich, a red bearded man who makes people laugh. In December 2014, we adopted a little black cat we named Mikita. Rich and I decided to feed him REAL food and make it a point to help him live an enriched, thriving life.
I created the Instagram account for Mikita, @chicagoblackcat, thinking it would be fun to show his bright personality and show the way we care for him. I'm sharing all those tips with you guys! Still curious?
